FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Wizard of Oz:
The Emerald of Flushing
April 2010
If you’re looking for a
theatrical adventure for everyone in the family, follow the yellow
brick road to FSF Community Theatre Group’s production of The
Wizard of Oz. You will be led to Emerald City by a
talented cast who hail from all over Queens and Long Island.
Director, Amanda Doria, a veteran of Queens and Manhattan theatre,
stages the magic of Oz with Andrew J. Wheeler as musical director
and Nicole Bilbao as choreographer. This trio, along with a
strong creative team guided by artistic director Maryellen Pierce is
sure to create a production that will entice and enrapture audiences
of all ages.
This is not your ordinary Oz! The familiar Somewhere
Over the Rainbow will be sung in this production, but the
cast of Munchkins, Jitterbugs, and Ghosts make this journey to Oz
exciting & unpredictable with its twists and turns. One thing
to be sure of is that the four friends are a fantastic group of
performers: Dorothy is played by the young and talented Kate Brady,
Ed Harley as the Scarecrow, Stephen-Louis Hernandez as Tin Woodman,
and Peter Sullivan as Cowardly Lion. Not to mention the
ever-famous rivaling witches of Oz, the Witch of the West
played by Nancy Keegan and the Sorceress of the North played by
Shana Aborn.
Do not miss this quirky and charming production of The Wizard
of Oz. Performances are Saturday, May 1st
and 8th
at 8pm and Sunday, May 2nd at 3pm. All shows are
held at the Free Synagogue of Flushing, 41-60 Kissena Blvd. in
downtown Flushing. On site parking is available. Tickets are
$15 & $14 for seniors over 60 and children 12 and under. For
